About that same time I was reading some forum on that exact topic where people were requesting such a feature quite adamantly which got a response from an adobe developer telling them to go use Painter.

haha! :) that’s great! :)

how do you do it in painter, 2byts? sorry, can’t find it…

no, I meant the brush sizing system.  (Like “B” % “M” in Mudbox)

It’s a little off topic, but I really hope that this method of increasing/decreasing the size and magnitude of a brush will eventually find its way into 2D apps like Painter and PS.

Photoshop has far more brush management options than mudbox. i recommend you learn how to make custom brushes and how to use the brushes manager and you’ll quickly see that it is very powerful. But i do agree that they need a more efficient workflow of changing size, opacity, and color. Size is easy if you have a tablet and pen, but opacity and color require moving the pen away from your current position. Adobe s’got a lot of issues that it will need to figure out, especially what to do with all these redundant software they have. I’m also disappointed with their price management. It was $200 to upgrade from PS8 to PS9 and the only good addition was the smart filters (which for some reason i have yet to use??!!) And can they please figure out a way to make this thing run more efficiently. I eats up ram like Rossie O’ Donell eats......

Anyway enough hijacking of the thread. Yes i too would like to see an ultrasmooth integration of mudbox with other autodesk apps. Mudbox should be able to open .max files and have a similar material manager.

I was excited about smart filters until I used them. The #1 reason I’d want to use them is to paint or modify a layer, and see the result of the layer blurred for example. But you can’t do that. You cannot edit a layer that has a smart filter applied, which renders them totally useless IMO.

i know photoshop and worked with it everyday for many years, I was specifically talking about size changes on the fly (hold button and drag) someone here said it was possible in PS.

i like the idea of a powerful paint system, a combination of body paint ,photoshop in mudbox. and a faster normal map , this would be the best thing for mudbox :D

3D Brush has evolved enough to be production worthy. It has a better UI then Zbrush, is faster and has more features then Bodypaint, and works with photoshop quite well.  I found the workflow pretty easy.  You can paint spec maps, sculpt with layers, pose tool, projection paint, bake GI and Amb. Occlusion, lazy brush, and quite a few other ripped off ideas ( in a good way)

Oh… And supports 16 million polys
