Mudbox has amazing sculpting and painting tools! Unfortunately, if someone really wants to leverage the painting tools for real-time game assets it’s almost impossible to use for hard surface objects.

You may say, “Paint the textures on the high resolution sculpt mesh” but, if I don’t have it then I have no other option than to use the real-time asset.

If there was simply an option to “Retain imported normals” when importing objs, I could tell all my friends to use Mudbox for painting their game textures. Let me tell all my friends Autodesk!

agreed...!

for a workaround i bake an ao map for the object and paint in flat shading mode…
