Someone may have already suggested this but I was thinking the other day how nice it would be to be able to use stencils in combination with a meshes UVs.
An example of this would be being able to draw a height map while referencing a UV template in say Photoshop then bring these into Mudbox as stencils that would automatically place themselves on the mesh where the UVs belonged.
You could then brush in the detail. This could work very nicely for sculpting hardware.
Maybe mesh displace would perform a similar trick, but I haven’t played with it enough yet.
