Hey all.. Mudbox has a built in “suggest a feature” option in the help menu, which is great, but you can only suggest one at a time, so I’m starting this thread. Here’s a short list of things I’d love to see in the next years version. Please add your own, maybe they’ll hear us!

...in no particular order

-Proper cavity masking for texture painting.
-"stereoscopic" view port filter with options for anaglyph or shutter glasses
-Blending options for paint layers (multiply, screen, soft light, hard light etc..)
-The ability to export textures to photoshop with layers intact
-a “mesh insert” brush
-"transparency" paint layer option
-A way to paint and sculpt simultaneously (i.e have veins or pimples rise up in 3D and change color as you paint them)
-zbrush-style “trans pose” tools
-marquee and lasso selectors for freezing and hiding geometry
-and a “duplicate layer” option for painting and sculpting (great for backing up work and experimenting)

Mudbox is an amazing program, and it can only get better! Good job devs!

duplicate paint and sculpting layer is still there…

-"stereoscopic" view makes no sence to me…
im not able to do a better faster work with these feature…

.......

here is my list…

1. level independent sculpting layer
2. posing tools
3. improved object list
4. blur paint brush
5. new color picker with for/background color
6. paint brush with opacity control (additive, apsolute)
7. import images direct to the paint channels (specular, bump,..)
8. albedo, ao baking between arbitrary meshes
9. support for hard/soft edges
0. hide/unhide geometry with uv tile use…

voxel scetching (zspheres) and remeshing are on the list but there are more important things to do first…
paint layer blending would be a cool feature but its not so important anymore cause i changed my workflow…

It would be nice to have palettes that you can save and load for Stencils stamps and falloffs ,so that you could have a Skin pallete ,Rock palette ,etc .A palette for presset brushes that would save the brush type ,all its settings and any stamps associated with it.

A pose tool is top of the list though.

With so many animated and live action movies coming out in 3D stereo, and Nvidia’s 3D vision hardware currently available, how does NOT having a stereoscopic filter make sense? If you don’t want to use it, then don’t, but I’m sure there are thousands of sculptors out there, like myself, that would love it! It may not help your workflow, sure, but does “depth of field” help? No. Is it damn cool? Hell yeah!

Blur brush, foreground/background colors and improved color picker are great ideas though. A simple image editor in the image browser and any actual use for the UV view would also be welcome, IMO.

I would hope we get a bit more out of 2010 yet, I hope there is a substantial service pack in development. Hopefully with Zbrush 3.5 and 4 coming soon its put a bit of a fire under Autodesk’s butts.

1. Posing tool.
2. level independent sculpting layer.
3. Sculpting + Painting at the same time.
4. Mix multiple stamps-stencils-colors at the same time when painting.
4. Be abble to pick color in Projection mode.
5. Symmetry for the clone Brush.
6. stereoscopy in the viewport.
7. SSS material or SSS paint layer.
8. Be abble to save on the hard disk custom colors of the Paint Tool Color.

I haven’t tried 2010 yet.  doesn’t it have better realtime AO now?

I realized I only need or want a few things…

1) really good realtime AO

2) a realtime Anti Aliasing (the jaggies make it hard for me to make subtle judgments about form and proportion.)

3) a way to move more than one object/element at the same time. (would be great to be able to tug on an eye with the move tool and the socket comes along for the ride)
