Not sure if this is included in Mudbox or in the works for the future.

It would be nice if Mudbox had a robust polygonal decimator which preserved detail.  Many of the standard 3D packages crash when attempting to reduce high polygon mesh.  I typically like to model up to higher subdivisions in Mudbox and then attempt to reduce the mesh before generating normal maps or displacement maps.  This workflow generates the maximum amount of detail without sacrificing production time. Ideally one could also paint weighting of reduction on the mesh.

Thanks,

Jason

I’d like to second this request, some sort of weight-map based polygon reduction utility would be incredibly valuable.
