Anybody knows when or if Mudbox will have the ability to work with spacepilot or other 3dconnection devices?

People have been asking for it.  I am hoping for it to be included in 2.0 but who knows…

We have a few devices in house now. How many people are using this by show of hands?

By a show of hands?  ME!!  I bought one a while ago and yet I dont get to use it too much becuase all it has drivers for is 3dsmax and maya really. even with max I use it at home alot with my tablet pc… if there where drivers for connexion devices for mubox I would certainly be using it all the time as it would make a perfect interface for rotating panning and zooming while scultping.  I mean come on, would you rather pan zoom and rotate by using some combo of alt ctl or shift or would you just like to move the little sphere and see your model move before your eyes as you work away with the pen in the other hand… It would be so fast to say the least.  Come on everyone out of the woodwork and tell dave you use one too!!

Dave here are some other threads about this:

I would actually buy a 3d mouse if Mud supported it.

I use one at the office for Catia and some other 3D apps. Have a older model at home for Maya and found the more 3D apps I have, the more I like the spaceball.

I have the space navigator myself.  I love the size of it, and for something that is only 60 bucks it looks really sleek.  For anyone thinking about trying one I defiantly recommend this one.  There was only a slight learning curve, It took me all of 2 hrs to get used to it.  If your someone that uses alot of keyboard shortcuts there are other models available with lots of buttons to assign shortcuts to. But with the two on the space navigator it works fine for me.

One Hand here!

Would be awesome to have a the 3Dspace navigator driver for Mudbox,
such a device only costs 59$ and thereby pretty affordable for the masses. I guess with Skymatter’s><Autodesk’s partnership the driver will come sooner then expected, mainly because 3ds Max already supports it.

Thanks in advance,

As you can see posts/negotiation dates back more than a year.

Another hand here, and I know people were using them (well, as much as they could.. application support is kinda limited so far) back at my old workplace.

Yup, me too, waiting impatiently to be able to use my SpacePilot with Mudbox!  I mean, how difficult is it to put out a driver?

Me too! Now that anyone can afford a SpaceNavigator it would be a shame if support wasn’t added.
For just $60 one’s workflow could be improved to a level where it would no longer be “work” but sheer “play” to work in mudbox.
Autodesk should add the support, do it well, and let everyone know they added it.
Would be quite the edge over zbrush....

But yea, count me in! Just ordered my SpaceNavigator :P
There has been some talk about adding a sculpture package to the workflow at my workplace.
Right now it’s down to mudbox or zbrush,
and we would definitely choose mudbox if we could have the smooth workflow of a SpaceNavigator for just $100 more…
