I recently took the time to post up a handful of threads for discussion.  These where removed and merged into a single thread under one of their titles.  Now none of the points can be discussed in the forum, and the thread is illegable.

This is not conducive to discussion of each point by the community, or encouraging for people taking the time to write feedback.

Please dont do this in the future.

They are not removed they have been merged into other posts of yours, as some of them are simply ‘thoughts’ or could be easily put into a single post.  Do not tell those admining this board what not to do it can very fast earn you a warning...which I hate to give out.

Inn future please if you have multiple quesries posrt them in a single post as this makes it far easier to deal with if you truley wish a solution.  This is teh 2nd time I’ve said this to you inside of a day.... please do not do it again.  We encourage all user feedback good and bad, however it is very bad netiquette to createmultiple threads when one could do.

Not to mention the fact that you’re very bad at giving threads accurate titles.
You just started one called ‘sample CG shaders for download’ which is deliberately misleading, as everyone will think you’ve actually posted or linked to some new shaders, when you’re actually just requesting some.
That sort of thing annoys people.

I think you could have done one thread called:  some suggestions I have… Nice in theory to think that having multiple threads would get more discussion.  But more often than not your posts will get bumped down to the bottom in less than a day since other artist have their own concerns and suggestion they want to make too.  Its probably way better for you to have one thread that people can focus on.  with all those threads you had a way better chance of getting one or many of your threads ignored.

Dave, its also called spamming the forums and bumps other topics off.  Frankly its annoying, when a list of questions can be easily answered in 1 thread instead of dozen.

This is a forum - a place for users to discuss things.

Having a single thread on a dozen topics would make it impossible for people to have their say about each subject in a clear way.  I have posted the topics seperately for that reason alone.  Topics that people respond to float up, unimportant topics float down.  This helps you, the developer, see whats important in users minds.  If I suggested a feature and people respond- its likely a good one to focus development on.  I suggest a feature and no one cares, it will be bumped by the natural selection of the forum format.

That way, the feedback forum does what it is designed for.  People talk and share ideas.  Its a FORUM.

When Darth merged together my threads, it made the single thread illegable for any other forum user to read and discuss, as I included the subject in the title.  This wasted the time I dontated giving the developers.

-2Byts - I didnt post a list of questions each seperately, I kicked off some threads for people to talk in.  It is not spamming.  Each thread was seperate for a reason.

-Justinoman - I hope the body of this response explained fairly why I posted seperately.  It is for other artists to respond or not, it is not, as I imagine you are thinking, to simply bump up my suggestions.  I have been involved in giving feedback with Autodesk BETA forums for years, and this is the format it is done in.  One Topic - One discussion - One thread.  It really would be crazy to try to have six topics going all at once in the same forum.

-Oddity - If and when someone is generous to give their time to make those shaders, then thats where they will be posted.  The thread name makes sense.

-DarthWayne -

Clearly we both don’t like being criticized, we have the same goal when we sat down at the PC’s yesterday - help make mudbox rock and be involved in the forums.  I criticized you for taking down perfectly valid threads and making them illegable - wasting the time I took to contribute, and making it hard for other users to talk about it.  I am not telling you what to do, I am expressing my frustration and, yes, a bit of anger at my time being wasted.  You cannot be unanswerable to the user base as a moderator.

so why dont you start a single Thread with a proper list of all of your question?  If you dont like how they run their forums you are free to discuss somewhere else like cgtalk.

Thanks to everyone who PM’ed me and sent me emails on this matter - its really cheered me up.

For the record I regret the line ‘dont do it again’ - which was typed in anger.  I had just spent a late night transferring notes and questions to the forum and had my work essentialy destroyed.  I did get angry - sorry for that.  I will be a zen rock from now on.

2byts - this is the official feedback communications channel for the Autodesk corporations Mudbox Package.  Because of my experience with modeling toolsets and workflows, and my work with Autodesk doing modeling demos and training, they have asked me to take part in the community.  I presented my suggestions for discussion (not questions btw) in a standard format.  I wont be wasting my time again.

I think you didn’t realize this community is not totally from the area.  There are alot of original mudbox forum members here that got moved over after the buyout.  I am guessing other members felt disrespected as you got angry because you did something that would normally not be tolerated and your posts got changed.  I assume by your response to my post that you think that somehow I don’t know “how it is” and this is why I draw my conclusion that you are not in touch with this community and my have ruffled some feathers.  I could care less I think its all entertainment, but I wanted to give you my opinion.
By the way I really like your work, and you should hang around and keep posting.  No reason to run off just because some people get grumpy now and then (including you and I have to admit myself on occasion).  a humble artist is a great artist.

Regardless of forum history, can you see why I have cause to be grumpy?
