Now that the corporate strong-arm of AutoDesk has merged us MB users into the “Area” I would like to request someone create an alternative site.

I have no desire to wade through all of this nonsense.  I honestly could care less about any AD product other than Mudbox.

Please - someone build an unofficial site.  I’m willing to put up the server space and even possibly am willing to pay for the vBulletin software if necessary.

I understand we’ll lose out on the ability to get “official” information, but face it - we haven’t heard anything since MB was consumed by the Borg anyway and the moment something does break it’ll be all over the net.

Feel free to PM me.

Paul

Wade through what? All the posts from the old forum are here, plus the same sub-forums. I’ve just updated my bookmarks from the old ones to the Mudbox section of the Area. It’s exactly the same, albeit with a different design.

I agree it’s really pain to find something related only to Mudbox…

I’m also really confused about terms - there is no link to terms only in registration, and there was very unpleasant rules about using your work you showed on this forum by Autodesk.
(I mean this: http://area.autodesk.com/forum/index.php/home/legal_index/ terms (especially clause 9)

But now, there are no more link to this terms during registration, but there are very shorten terms:

All messages posted at this site express the views of the author, and do not necessarily reflect the views of the owners and administrators of this site.

By registering at this site you agree not to post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, or that violate any laws.  We will permanently ban all users who do so.

We reserve the right to remove, edit, or move any messages for any reason.

There is no options to search in only Mudbox section in Advanced search, so this forum is really big step back :( :( :(

Did you means this bit Petr?

By uploading, emailing, posting, publishing or otherwise transmitting content to any Forum or submitting any content to Autodesk, you acknowledge that such content is nonconfidential and automatically grant (or warrant that the owner of such rights has expressly granted) Autodesk a perpetual, royalty-free, irrevocable, nonexclusive right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, transmit and distribute such content on in any form, medium, or technology now known or later developed. In addition, you warrant that all so-called moral rights in the content have been waived.

I have to say I’m not too impressed with this move either and I certainly wasn’t looking to be negative purely because of change. This place just isn’t as nice to browse and I’m not liking some of the stuff in that disclaimer either.

Ugh, didn’t see that part of the terms and conditions. Never read that stuff; but now that you point this out…
Not like my work is noticeable in the vast world of sculpting, but I can’t really agree with that part of the disclaimer.

Just like you, paulrus, I couldn’t give a rat’s ass of all other Autodesk products besides Mudbox; but I don’t have any problems finding stuff in the muddie section.

Anyhoot, this move to the area was inevitable; and I’m also not all that prone about it. But I’m willing to give this place a shot. :)

I absolutely don’t care if the forum is on autodesk or skymatter site really, both are driven by a company and I didn’t like this before as well.
Not that I have something against skymatter, just that is didn’t make sense to me that the only quality digital scultping board was oriented specificaly to mudbox instead of digital sculpting in general.

still these forum rules are amazing :) I can’t believe what I’m reading here.

for those that are wondering:

“By uploading, emailing, posting, publishing or otherwise transmitting content to any Forum or submitting any content to Autodesk, you acknowledge that such content is nonconfidential and automatically grant (or warrant that the owner of such rights has expressly granted) Autodesk a perpetual, royalty-free, irrevocable, nonexclusive right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, transmit and distribute such content on in any form, medium, or technology now known or later developed. omg.

That is horrendous....meaning that if you upload any of your artwork onto these forums, you give permission to Autodesk to print and redistribute your Artwork as they wish, like in magazines, or software advertisements....

that is just plain wrong.

which leaves me wondering.....now that Autodesk owns the forums from skymatter....all the existing images from the WIPS and Finished threads that have been moved to Autodesk now fall into this “section 9” ?

No. They bought skymatter, not your work.
