So, how do you view new posts for the mudbox section only, without having to wade through 100 max and maya posts?

yeah if I can just link from another site… I guess I will do that if I have to, but it still seems really annoying. Im not too fond of image covering watermarks and copywrite doesnt seem to mean much on the internet.

Oddity are you going here http://area.autodesk.com/forum/index.php/forums/viewcategory/95/

I just feel that we should refrain from any bitching and moaning until an artist is wronged.

To use an analogy, isn’t it referable to avoid a crime being committed rather than wait for one to happen and then dealing with the consequences?

Autodesk might never abuse these terms, but that doesn’t mean we should give up our rights.

Issues concerning ownership of Intellectual property is something all artists should take very seriously, a lot of artists get screwed over with things like this.

Ok, I didn’t originally want to reply to this thread, but I would like to clear a little bit of your concerns.
No one in the Autodesk company will take your artwork without your permission! We always contact the artist and ask him/her if the image can be used in magazines or other marketing materials. We only using images without asking, on the AREA banners. I believe that you want to show your work to people so we try to showcase your work in banners with the appropriate credit (ie. your name).
I know that the legal rules sound very harsh, but imagine, how hard it is to manage this kind of community where hundreds of images are posted daily. And because the internet is not made up of just professional people who understand the code of ethics, this company has to be prepared for those who want to go against any rules and profit from every legal loophole. This is the only protection against being sued or having any legal issues with our customers.
What I want to say is, in this kind of huge daily traffic, this is the easiest solution available that’ll allow us to accept submissions—without having a group of legal people dictate everyday what is correct and what’s not. I’m honestly happy that I can create and run a CG community like the AREA and those rules are just taxes for the support that Autodesk is giving us to have a community like this.
So please don’t take this negatively and look at the problem from the other side—trust me there is not an Evil side.

Thanks for your understanding,
-Daniel

Daniel, I honestly believe you, and most artists would be flattered that their work would get stickied and modified to put on the front page.

But the TOA, specifically the section that was quoted in section 9 needs to be re-written if Autodesk wishes to have the trust from the community.  Because at the moment, it contradicts what you just posted.

I agree with 2byts…

if Autodesk will rewrite the terms and conditions in words similar to yours

“We always contact the artist and ask him/her if the image can be used in magazines or other marketing materials. We only using images without asking, on the AREA banners.”

then these forums will be a happier place all round!
