Would it be possible to add a midpoint option (or float support) to the stencils.
Right now in a stencil black(0) means no effect and white (1) is full effect.

So if you extract details to use as a stencil you get the negative values in the 0 or -0 areas and everything positive in the values above 0.
Then you have to compress/shift the map that no value is lower then 0, which means the original 0 values become something like a .5 gray value.
When you use the stencil everything gets blown up as the original 0 will now add to the surface.
With a midpoint slider you could define .5 gray as the new midpoint (value of no displacement effect) so you`d get all the up and down displacement and not necessarily inflate the surface in the process applying stencil detail.

Yes that’s a good idea Flo!
I actually asked for it in the past already. In Modo we’re able to set the low/high value of a image.
