Hi,

I’m working on a model that is mostly symmetrical, except for a strip of irregular detail in the middle.  Unfortunately, without cutting out this asymmetric part of the mesh, I can’t think of a way to get symmetry to work properly on this object.  I can’t set up Tool tangent or Layer symmetry because the center of the mesh is not symmetrical.  Anyone know of any way around this without cutting up the mesh?  Right now with regular Tool symmetry, the mesh is being sort of chewed up on one side, while the actual side being sculpted is fine.

A masking feature allowing the masking out of asymmetrical objects before establishing the topological axis, or a ‘smart’ symmetry that only applies symmetrical edits when it can confirm the symmetry, would be great.

Thanks,

Erin
