Tesselate without Meshsmooth

I would like to be able to add detail without altering the shape of an object. The current way seems to apply a NURMS algorithm, but I’d like to be able to just tesselate the object without having to do it in Max or another program. It would just speed things up.

smooth command has an options box....check that out
