It seems odd that you can’t do this, and also it would be nice if the paint brushes respected frozen areas as well. This would open up some nice possibilities, such as more easily painting cavity effects.

I agree that it would be a useful feature.  It opens up a few workflows that I can think of right now.

Yes this would be ideal. At least they got the freeze brush working with stencils now :)
