Simple.

when Ive got mudbox baking maps and I realise I would like to change a setting or something I want to be able to cancel the bake immediately.

At the moment I have pressed the cancel button about 8 times and its still saying baking building octree etc etc and this is making me very angry because it is wasting my time.

Sure this means that mudbox has to dump loads of data out of memory very fast but Im sure you clever guys at Skymatter can get it working.

should also work with everything ( Subdividing, Hiding/Unhiding, Removing etc..)

Very true!

one other thing is that if someone is working on a lvl 2 mesh and they subdivide (shift D) to lvl3 they should be able to undo the subdivision and carry on working on lvl2 by pressing undo(ctrl z).

its just a small issue but it is sometimes really confusing when you think you have “unlimited undos” and really you only have undos until the last time you changed subdivision level and from that point on you dont have any undos.

oh man, I’m glad someone else mentioned that! that is one of my biggest annoyances!

Ha :)

the other day i was talking about Mudbox to my collegue who is a ZB user - and I said - “you know what’s really cool in Mudbox - ‘Unlimited Undo’ ... he didn’t believe me so we sat down i scetched something out, subdivided it, doodled again, subdivided, did a couple more strokes and started to hit CTRL+Z like a madman :) and it only undid those last couple of stokes.... How stupid did I feel ??? :D well.. at least now i know. :)

These arent huge issues, I would personally prefer if skymatter just worked on the map baking more and made it output really good maps even when the UVlayout isnt great or the model is quite low poly. Im not a fantastic 3D modeller/uvmapper yet and for me most of the time its really quite difficult to get a good map from mudbox and I find myself exporting lvl3 meshes etc...or just doing the map baking in another app.

Hopefully Skymatter will pick up on all this stuff and sort it out, preferably in version 1.x as these are things that should have worked well from the beginning in my opinion.

aye, I’ve heard the normal map baking is alittle...shaft in mudbox. I know alot of people use Xnormals but Maya8.5’s transfer maps does the job for me like. I especially like the big thumbnails.....idiot proof ;)
