I have been working in mudbox a lot lately, and as I work I get Ideas for new features. So I decided to write them down and get some comments from other users, and hopefully get some implemented.

On the top of the wants list is 3d Connexion device support!!! I’m addicted to if for max, and would love to use it in mudbox.

Level jumping: It would be nice to be able to have a drop down list or something where you could select the level you want to jump to. Especially on higher levels where it takes a long time to move between levels, if you want to go to a lower one to make some big changes, you have to hit page down, wait until it finishes, page down, wait, rinse and repeat. Even if it still takes the same amount of time to cycle, it would be nice to select the desired level and go off to get say a snack or something while it thinks.

Select active: You may already be able to do this, but a button to select all of the currently subdivided polygons would be helpful.

UV viewer/editor? A UV viewer would be really handy. Editing would also be nice. Although I can’t imagine that at least a viewer wouldn’t be implemented with the 3d painting in 2.0

Floating pictures: Floating image windows would be good for reference pictures.

Selection filters: Would help with larger scenes. Buttons to toggle on or off the display of different types of item on the selection list.

Mask Transfer: The ability to copy/ paste (and maybe save and load?) masks between layers.

Select invert polygons: It would be handy to be able to invert the selected polygons on just the current object instead of having it also select all of the other objects in the scene.

Another cool feature could be a lasso(like in photoshop) type tool It could be used in different ways like selection, or expanding on another user’s Idea, extruding areas.

I also really like the idea of extruding filled curves. This could be really handy for patterns on armor or scales.

I’m not sure exactly how this one would work, but it would be cool to be able to have curves stick to the model. That way you could stroke on the curve, and then change the view to see it better without messing it up.
