Apologies if this has been mentioned before but one thing I miss using MB 2009 is the ‘Clay Tubes’ brush feature in ZBrush 3.......I’m trying to convert, honest.

Anyway of getting a similar effect? or should this be considered as a new tool?

Yes I did a video on getting a number of clay tubes and rake effects in the quickstart series over in the tutorial section.  The brushes are decelptivly simple and once you know how the sttigns work together you can get anumber of effects above and beyond what you see in the brush tab.

i made my own clay brush in mudbox 2009 which is basically the fill brush with a strength of 300 or more.

This is great news trying these techniques.....The high strength Fill brush is pretty much identical and very nice to use with ‘Steady Stroke’ turned on.

The only thing that’s still not quite right is that the (shift) smooth capability is very weak and doesn’t seem to even out the rough built up mesh very well. I’ve tried going down a division-level but not this is no good as it hides detail and of course slows down work flow considerably. Does anyone have any suggestions for this problem?

EDIT: I’ve also just noticed that the Fill Brush method doesn’t have an invert which is a big blow. So, the wax brush it is!
