I’ve just discovered Sketchbook Pro. It seems perfect for my particular needs....almost built to order.
Apart from my desktop pc running on Win 7 Ultimate, 64 bit and a mouse input I haven’t yet decided on what input device(s) might be best for my purposes. Does anyone have the expertise to advise?
My needs and wants:
1)Large screen or pad of about A3 size or perhaps slightly smaller (I somehow feel that a hand/pen movement should be on a 1:1 ratio if possible).
2)I wish to use this initially to take field sketches of historic monuments - am a volunteer researcher for a national organisation RCAHMS. The sketches will be linked to field surveys, i.e. scaled to provide reasonably accurate scaled and oriented site plans, sections and elevations taken with basic equipment such as an alidade and tape measures. Results in some cases will be used to update Ordnance Survey who no longer have personnel or resources available for such tasks.
3)The ideal solution would also be portable and driven by batteries to enable use outdoors, on-site. I accept that this may not be possible on a budget.
4) Because I earn nothing for the above I wish to keep costs as low as possible in line with getting high quality results and ease of use.
5) If you know of handy plug ins for Sketchbook Pro that will assist with the surveying part, that’s be great too.
As I don’t want to get off to a false start by purchasing hardware that has inbuilt snags that I am not experienced enough to spot before I purchase, I’d greatly appreciate the guidance of those who have in-depth experience.
