| Can't find a fix to the offset cursor.
|
|
|
Hello,
I, like others, am suffering from my cursor being offset in Sketchbook Pro 2010 using a Intuos 3 Wacom Tablet. I have read all the post I could find and tried all the fixes:
- I unchecked ‘Enable canvas scroll bars’
- I have disabled ‘Rotate Canvas’
- I downloaded and installed the SP2 for Sketchbook
- I have the current drivers for my Intuos (6.1.3-5)
- I have restarted several times.
I am running Windows XP. Does anyone have any input into what might be going on. I fell in love with Sketchbook when I used it at Siggraph...I really just want to start drawing with it.
Thanks!
-Steve

hi Steve:
I see you have the latest driver from Wacom. We’ll investigate here to see if we can reproduce this issue.
Meanwhile, please try removing you preferences and then restart SBP.
Do you by any chance have a dual monitor setup?
Thanks,

I did a test this morning on this. I set my displays to one monitor, then opened up Sketchbook, and there was still a slight offset. THEN i toggles the “display toggle” on my tablet and THAT worked. Glad i have a workaround ( as i have 2 projects right now using Sketchbook ) but i hope this bug gets fixed soon.

I too am having this problem, it seems to show up 100% of the time once I’ve resized the document to zoom in to work on detail, and then I’m stuck with the cursor and line I’m drawing not matching up.
Very frustrating. :(

i fixed it by doing the toggle for edge scrollable, and unchecking rotate canvas.

I’m appearing to be having the same trouble using an Intuos 4 running on Win7 X64. The offset gets greater as I move the pen down the tablet.
Have installed SBP 2010 SP2 and WACOM drivers from the PRO615-3a exe and have tried the scroll bar toggle to no avail.
Is there a fix for this?

Hi there :) i seem to be having the same problem with the offset cursor, but in my case no matter where on the canvas i paint everything gets cramped in an around 1 inch strip at the left side of the screen :/ tried it in win7 with both 2009 and 2010 versions of the program.
BTW i’m not using an wacom tablet mine is genius mousepen 8x6” but i haven’t had any problems with it in any other software

I contacted Wacom and when I followed their instructions as best I could (see below) the problem was cured:
1- please remove your tablet driver and download the latest one available at:
http://www.wacom-europe.com/index2.asp?lang=en&pid=29
a.) Reset the preference files in the wacom/pen tablet folder.
Go to Start=>Programs=>Wacom/Pen Tablet=>Preference File Utility
Now delete ALL.
b.) Please uninstall all drivers again. Go to Control Panel=>Add or Remove Programs
Now remove the Pen Tablet / Wacom Tablet. After a restart go to the search engine and look for the
files
tablet*.*
wacom*.*
pentab*.*
wintab*.*
Pen_Tablet.exe
Pen_Tablet.dll
Pen_TabletUser.exe
PenTablet.cpl
PenTablet.znc
Touch_Tablet.dll
Wintab32.dll
WTouchAPI.dll
WTouchCPL.exe
WTouchService.exe
WTouchUser.exe
and delete them.
As well delete the folders TABLET and WTABLET.
Please make sure, that you have hidden files included to the search.
Look in the System32 folder if the wintab*.* is deleted
In Vista64 there is a Wintab*.* in SYSTEM32 and in SYSWOW64.
2- You can now download the latest driver from: http://www.wacom.eu/index2.asp?lang=fr&pid=29&gm=4
Be sure to deactivate your antivirus before installing the tablet driver.
3- Then go to Windows device manager and disable the ‘Wacom Virtual HID’ device, and restart you computer.
Hope it works for you too!

You don’t need to go through all that trouble to fix the offset.
Use the Tablet preference file utility that comes with your Wacom.
Go to: Start -> Programs -> Wacom Tablet -> Tablet Preference File Utility
Then just select remove my preference file. It will fix the problem.
I had this problem with Sketchbook pro and Manga Studio and the preference utility too care of it in one click.
Hope this helps.

I’m glad that ‘expressiveink’ had such an easy fix but that was not my experience. Zozimus had the only fix that worked for me. I uninstalled, rebooted, purged preferences, reinstalled....etc....many times in many different ways. Nothing worked. I was trying not to use Zozimus’s technique as I don’t have Windows 7 Search enabled, or cached that is. It slows my machine down so I live with slower searches.
Anyway, I finally bit the bullet and did the instructions exactly like Zozimus said and it finally worked. Believe me, I was about to give up as I’d spent 5 hours doing everything else. I should have just spent the 1.5 hours initially searching and deleting.
So, I’m good to go. Thanks for the help.
