importing .xml brushes?

I noticed that SBP 2011 custom brushes are all .xml files

I tried to copy some Corel Painter brushes into SBP (also .xml files) but it does not recognize the file.

application support-->autodesk-->sketchbookpro-->5.0-->Brushes

No success. .xml files seem to be identical but don’t work.

Is there a way to transfer the brushes over?

I should add:
Mac platform

to import:
new brush-->import-->go to Brushes folder-->click on .xml file--> “already exists or is not recognized” message
