I cannot seem to figure out how to control the a pivot point of a layer or even how/where it it originally based from. I would love to move the pivot point, is there a way? Can I control this?
Any help would greatly appreciated.

As far as I know the pivot point of any drawing on any layer should be always in the center of the canvas…

On any layer draw a selection with either the select- or lasso-tool, then the pivot point should be in the center of the selection…
After deselection, the pivot point should reset to the center of the canvas…

The exemption is the text layer, where the pivot point should be always in the center of the text…
