Yes, why does Autode$k charge, in Australia for instance, $700+tax ($770, but companies get the tax back), for 3ds max design subscription, but it is $395 retail in USA. That means, with the exchange rate favouring the Australian dollar, we should pay LESS than the USA for this. My subscription bill for this year is over $2,600!! I am one of the few people who don’t use a cracked version, and I get punished!
So, Autode$k Australia, are you ripping us off? The question is obviously YES.
It’s coming up for renewal time and I’ll have to pay the subscription again, I’m afraid.
In my field I am pretty well stuck with using Autode$k crap, 3ds max design 2012 is a doozy, it crashes every 15 minutes, and I have submitted dozens of error reports. Don’t get a damn thing back from them, either!
The companies offering local ‘support’ don’t know anything about 3ds max, and considering I used to teach it, it is laughable the whole ‘subscription advantage’ thing anyway.
I’ll approach the ACCC (Australian consumer watchdog) when I get some time and try to make a big fuss over this. I managed to beat down the supplier about $2000 per license last time, so it is worth a shot.
Anyone else in Oz willing to approach the ACCC? They need a few people to complain before they can do anything, apparently.
