I originally purchased Sketchbook Pro directly from Alias in January 2003. I purchased an upgrade from the Autodesk Store in February 2007. Not having used the software in years, I recently attempted to access my old Alias account - without success. I then attempted to register my existing license, using the SBW020/SBW010-N serial numbers (5x4 digits) provided in 2003 and 2007. I also asked whether or not Sketchbook Pro 2 is even eligible for updates at this point, and provided order numbers and dates along with the information above.
This is what I got:
We appreciate the information that you have provided, unfortunately the
product serial number, is in the format XXX-XXXXXXXX. We would like to
advice you to contact your reseller for further information as we would
need the valid serial number in order to register and activate your
software.
Thank you for contacting Autodesk.
I am assuming that this was an automated response, as I *am* quite obviously attempting to contact my reseller, which happens to be Autodesk.
I would much appreciate if somebody could clarify upgrade eligibility - neither the online store nor the product pages seem to list the requirements, and within 30 minutes I was unable to reach a person through phone support as well. I’d rather not order without a guarantee that I can actually install the upgrade. Because if Pro 2 is *not* eligible for an upgrade anyway, I am at least free to ignore the windmills spinning their blades at the authcodes desk.
Thanks!

An update: re-tried phone support at 800-964-6432 (standalone registration). The representative recognized the 2007 format serial numbers, and contrary to earlier e-mail responses, it is possible to look (some of) them up, esp. if backed up by physical proof of purchase (CD, box etc.).
Tbc....

If I recall correctly, there were no “upgrades” until SBPro 2010->2011. Each version had to be purchased new, so it depends on what you are upgrading from.
