hey im having trouble attaching functions to my intuos3 express keys.
basically i want one of the keys to have the same function as the space bar does = when i press my express key i want it to bringup the scale rotate move icon…
when i adjust this in system preferences, it has a pan/scroll feature, but it will only use the scroll feature when its assigned to an express key, and this is useless as i already have a touchstrip that zooms,’
any help? sorry if this is a bit vague
cheers

I applied My spacebar (pan rotate zoom) function to the bottom left button.
open wacom properties
select the button keys icon
select SBP program (instead of “all programs") by pulling down the “+” programs menu
assign the button you desire by selecting “keystroke” hitting the “spacebar” and select “finish(?)”
now whenwever you’re in SBP it will know what the key is supposed to do
sometimes it has trouble remembering and just restart the program or open your wacom properties again
** TIP HINT: set your “rotate page” function on your Wacom Intuous 3 touch strip by assigning the brackets ( “[” and “]” ) buttons using the “assign keystroke” feature in your wacom touch strip properties ! **
the bracket keys are NOT listed in the SBP 2010 shortcut list

I seem to have problems getting the Wacom control panel to recognize and customize the keys for this app. I’’m on a Mac, running latest Leopard, btw.

Hi guys,
I’ve had no problems mapping a custom key for the puck in my wacom properties.
In the Wacom tablet properties, when you get to the keystroke window, just press the spacebar in the “keys” field. There should be no characters that appear in this field.
Click ok and enter a name for the custom keystroke and press ok again.
Now the puck should appear every time you use that custom key.
This applies to Mac.

For SketchBook pro?, because that’s what I was saying. I have no problems with other apps.

Yes, this is for Sketchbook Pro. Are you using the latest wacom driver? Try reinstalling the Wacom driver. I’ve noticed this has helped others for separate issues.

I just upgraded my tablet to a Intuos 4, and was wondering if there was anything I could do to get “Change brush size” to work with the puck wheel?
Both zoom and rotate are working fine, with the default settings.
It’s a small thing, but I’d like to take advantage of it if it’s possible.
Has anyone figured this out, or have any ideas?

Well, I’ve messed with it a bit and since you have to “hold down” the hot key, I’m thinking it’s not doable on the puck.
Sorry if this is all really obvious, I’m not as savvy as some of the folks here.
I did map “brush size” to a hot key which works pretty well.
I WAS able to map undo/redo to the puck which is pretty nice. My analog brain doesn’t take advantage of UNDO nearly enough, maybe this will help get me in the habit.

Hi Dimmy,
I’m glad you got the other hot keys to work. I’ve had no problems getting to puck to map to the cintiq express keys on both Windows and Mac. Can you tell me your machine setup? OS, Grahics card, RAM, Model name, etc. If I can, I’ll hook up our intuos4 and give it a try.

Hi Sydney,
My set up is a MAC Dual 2.5 PPC G5 - 3.5 GB DDR SDRAM - OSX 10.5.6 - NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra 256 MB VRAM.
Like I said, I think it’s because certain of SBP’s keyboard shortcuts ( like “B” for brush size) need to be held down, that makes it impossible to map them to the puck. At least for ME using the Wacom utility.
Maybe you guys know of OTHER key combinations to pull this off in SBP, I don’t know.
I only ask because I’ve used the function in Photoshop and I gotta say, it IS pretty handy changing brush size on the fly with the puck wheel.
Not like it’s a burden the way it’s implemented in SBP, but you know, If yer like me, you always want to get the most out of a new gizmo! ;)
Thanks for looking into it.

Hi Dimmy,
Correct me if I’m wrong. You want to map the resize brush hotkey (b) to the Intuos4 touch ring? You basically want to resize the brush by scrolling with the touch ring?
I did try this without success. I suspect the touch ring would not work in this case because the touch ring cannot replace the stylus resizing input.
Is this what you were inquiring about? I will log a suggestion on this for a developer to consider, but I suspect this may simply be a limitation of the Hardware.

Yep, that’s what i was after.
That’s the way it works in Photoshop.
Like I said, It’s not a problem, just wondered if it was possible.
I have no problem mapping other (SBP) functions to the touch ring as long as the keyboard short-cut key is not required to be “held down.”
Thanks again for looking into it.
