First of all, I am a hobbyst. I have a tablet pc and I wanted to see how one can sketch on the computer compared to paper.

Overall, I found this software ok, but sometimes I found it hard to figure out how to do things. I posted some messages on this forum, I had trouble closing a curve for instance. I would have thought that it should be very simple. You just drag a point on top of the other and they snap, but it doesn’t seem to be the case. Another one would be the absence of a tool that allows you to slice a circle into equal pieces. Yes, I can use the symmetry tool but it is very annoying because you have to create another layer and then merge layers and so on. I also miss a tool that would show me the size of angles (the symmetry tool has it but again).

Is there a way to see the mouse position in terms of coordinates or to measure the elements that have been drawn?

The help is very, very dry. I would find most useful a How To… section that describes how you can achieve certain effects, tasks.

Another thing I don’t understand is that this software is supposed to be a step up from sketchbook pro. Yet, it doesn’t seem to include all the features that sketchbook pro has, such as free hand drawing without the automated smoothing (or maybe it has it and I haven’t been able to find it).

The software does a lot of cool things, such as the smoothing of curves or adding gradients.

But overall, for 500$, I don’t think it offers enough value. I think they could have thrown more features.

Next, I am going to try Adobe Illustrator.
