It is awesome.  That is my opinion.

Here are a few requests:

Drawing anywhere with symmetry, not just on one side
Ability to fill across symmetry (very important, imo)
Sketchbook Pro ruler and ellipse
More hotkeys, brush slider, etc for wacom

That is all for now, but damn I’m impressed

James,

Check out this video on SBD Symmetry:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=W0hmSVhssUc&NR=1

You will discover mirror symmetry can be set to any angle or a design can incorporate radial symmetry.

Filling across symmetry would require you to Layer Bake Symmetry followed by some curve endpoint editing. This is sometimes necessary on occasion to form a closed region.

Regards,

Jerry

This software would become a must for my concept design office IF :

-The hotkeys where ENTIRELY customisable. Please go for a walk in the Maya department and ask them how to do. It should be possible to have complete control over the software so I can work in it like I play in quake :p. Predefined canvas rotation on a key, flip of the entire composition, flip of the current layer.

-Tools :
Line making: While holding shift, the first direction you go in makes a straight line as long as the pen is pressed. Can be really handy while sketching.

-The brushes control : Well, let’s say that the possibilities are not very extended. Of course, the aim of not the software is not to look like painter but it should be possible to have really MUCH more parameters, LINKED with the wacom tablets abilities.

-Symmetry : Nothing to add to the post up there. Symmetry on every sides is way more handy..

-Save : incremental save on ctrl S ? Boring to go and have to set a name of file.

-Files : a .dwg view of files in windows ?

that is all for now !
Y

Copying and pasting between vector layers is a bit buggy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t for some reason. Also would greatly LOVE to have the ability to “paste in place” when copying pieces of vector lines from one layer to another. Currently they don’t function that way. Having to duplicate the layer and delete all the other pieces you don’t want is a very inefficient workaround.

That being said the app holds a lot of promise.

The copy and paste issues between vector layers have been fixed in the following service pack.  The copied curves are not offset anymore when pasted into a different layer.

From an architectural design perspective, this program is missing some key functionality to be truly functional for architects, engineers, or any other design and construction professional.

I should note I have not been able to try the Sketchbook Pro for Autocad yet, as it is a PC only program at this time.

FEATURES TO INCLUDE :

1.  Rulers/Ellipses from 2011.
2.  Permanent guides.....i.e. perspective snaps.  Would be great to be able to set 2-3 perspective points that could be drawn back to if a hot key is held.  As is, if I want to draw a 2-point perspective, I have to move the rulers around for EVERY line.  This basically eliminates any interest in using this program for sketching because paper is so much quicker.

MODIFICATIONS :
1.  Would like to be able to get a much finer pen tip (0.5 px or so).  Right now it’s limited at 2px.

I think as a lot of other people here that sketchbook designer could grow into an amazing program,
but it can be a bit frustrating. Below are a few of my thoughts.

Snapping
I have found options to turn off all snapping when in a paint layer but i cant find a way to
do this in a vector layer.

Duplicating.
The “Duplicate curve” could be a lot easier to use. I need to project lines for example from a 2d
cog to line up with a cylinder in my sketch. Drawing a single strait line then duplicating the
lines to be parallel is very time consuming at the moment. The transform icon is very hard to activate and most of the time i end up adding an unwanted point to the curve. Using the transform tool could be better but a quick way to clone the line does not seem to be an option. Copy and past for this also seems to be a very long winded way to do this as well. A key modifier would be great for this.

Sketchbook
Seeing as this program is 4 times the price of sketchbook it should have all the functions that are
in sketchbook as well as the ergonomic functions. I would love to use this program on my eee slate but i cant see this working without a key board at the moment (sketch book pro is great).

Mudbox
There are some great curve tools in Mudbox that would really help to be in designer. Having a floating spline to snap to in a paint layer would speed things up. French curves and other shapes would be great to. I think this would be an extension to the line and ellipse snapping that’s in sketchbook.

Masking
The masking layers are a good start but attaching a mask to a layer as a lot of other paint programs do would save some brain space for me. Also the spline tools to make quick mask shapes would be nice.

cant wait for sketchBook Designer 2013

all the best

3D interface

Being able to draw 3d objects would we the holy grail. Concept artists vision could be a tangible objects in minutes and their work would easily be recycled into a production ready model, revolutionizing the work flow, and saving monolithic amounts of time.

Any ASBP Designer file saved as .dwg get open in autocad but with white screen. I can not see the containt. Can anyone help me to understan exact workflow & process to do this?
