When I bought this app (almost a year ago now..) I quickly found there was a big flaw with it. The ability to import layered .psd files, or .png files with transparencies, wasnt working. The only information I could find at the time said that the Problem was being worked on, and would be fixed soon.

However, recently (due to a problem with sketchbook not backing up any of its gallery files) I lost all of my sketches that were saved to my ipad. So, I went to the few saved copies I had on my PC in order to restore them to the iPad… Only to find that I am *still* unable to import any form of file that supports preserving the transparency.

Considering this was an *advertised* ability when I bought this program a year ago, I was frankly shocked. The fix that was to come “soon” in march 2010, has not shown any progress (as far as I can see).

So does anyone know an alternative? A way I can get my sketchbook pictures back into their native app?

Failing that, anyone know of a program that does allow for the import of .psd or .png?

1) It’s good practice to sync your iPad/iPhone to your computer. If you have to delete the app for whatever reason, you can sync again to recover your data.

2) About future features, unfortunately all we can do is try to give you some idea on what’s on the pipeline with NO guarantees of when (if at all) a feature is going to be implemented. There are so many things out of our control.

With this, all I can say for now is that there is a new version coming out soon. IMO you’ll be happy.

I did have my iPad synced to the computer, as well as a full backup.
However, when I restored my iPad from the backup, all my apps were back as they were, but the sketchbook pro gallery was blank. Which means the sketchbook pro gallery is not part of the iPad backup.

Unless this is a mistake? I restored the backup twice to see if it would work but the gallery is still empty.

That’s very strange. The Gallery is stored in a location that is backed up by iTunes.
Sorry to hear that, no idea what happened there.
