I just found this program and it looks like what I want but I have a question before I buy it.  I will be painting RC helicopter canopies and I would like to use this program to design the projects before I start painting.  My question is, can I somehow get an image of the canopy into this program so that I can use it as a blank canvas to work on?  If so, how do I do it?

You are working on the mobile version, right?

Add a layer. You’ll have these options:
1. Add Layer
2. Duplicate layer
3. Import Photo
4. Import Camera
5. Cancel

Choosing option 3 will allow you to import a jpg (png jpg, gif etc) as a layer. Which is what you want (because you can erase your drawing layer if you make a mistake and start over, you can turn off the canopy layer to see your new art work, apply effects without messing up your base drawing / outline art work / master ... whatever).

Im working on Sketchbook Pro for last four years, there is a problem I’ve never met before: the color editor (gradient pallet) disappeared, seems like its opening somewhere beyond the window and I don’t see it and can’t catch it. : (
