Hi i would like to MAKE an EMPTY archive from one library. Just my metadata and history (timeline with fx), because i have my media corrupted. Does anyone know one way?

I´m doing it unlinking my video and audio, but have some problems with the audio. Despite it is unlinked too, my Smoke don´t find it and i get an error message.

Thanks.

I, too, would love an answer.
The ability to just archive ‘sequence’ data (in Avid-speak) without having all the space of the frames themselves would be great.

Thanks in advance,

Can you at least archive with just the VIDEO?  That will give you something at least.  I think you AUDIO issues is a known bug(?) I once had an archive with History that couldn’t archive due to audio and it ended up being a clip that had had audio way back in history that was unavailable.

It takes time to narrow down the proper clip… just a series of archives with different parts of the clip removed till you find the right section thats bad.

Hello,

Maybe you could try to Unlink the video using “Unlink Reloadable” and make a second pass for the audio using “Unlink All”.

It will probably be impossible to relink the “faulty” audio afterward, but it would have been impossible anyway since it looks like you don’t have the required media anymore.

Hey Jordal,

When you say the file is corrupted,
do you mean that the clip is showing plain red(nothing else)but playing the audio?
you are still able to load setups but without the clips?

I had seen corrupted clips on the smoke before and the clips were red in colour.
Tell me what version of smoke are you using.

If you have the option of archiving to disk then it would be better.
As far as the clips are concerned you can try replacing the clips with black frames from the smoke or anything else.

atleast you would be able to archive setups and there would be less chances of the audio getting corrupt too.
If you have the option of archiving to disk then probably it would be easier to archive the metadata, setups and audio.

Hope this helps
Nikhil

Hi again and thanks for all your answers:

Brian have the point: My History files have some kind of bug (audio unavailable).

Because of i don´t have media (my clips are red!), i unlink them (all options i have: unlink, relink, proxy, etc), but there is some kind of clip into my History files which for some reason my Smoke don´t find it.

Althought i have been trying to Archive to file omiting audio, my machine keeps believing that there is something to find (i ask myself why? if i don´t want audio to Archive)

I have Smoke 2009 2k sp3. I never have had “red” clips with my older smoke and i believe that multiresolution version isn´t as cool as it should (i don´t have recover steups in my desktop when it crash, maybe some kind of preferences?)

Ok. My way was to Archive my clips one by one. When i found an audio problem, i must to erase my “History clips” (H dark icon). Sometimes it was a Paint clip inside an Action (i think with audio) which makes my entire timeline bad.

As Fred said, it wasn´t impossible to relink my “faulty” audios.

Years ago i restored one Archive from tape and my media were “empty” (not unlinked or “black” frames, just “empty"). I think that it was an error archiving (maybe one shared library or it was the link-stone option, no idea), and it wasn´t so funny. On the contrary, this days I were trying to make the same (crazy world).

My setups were ok, but i couldn´t make one empty OMF or a good EDL as “alternative” archive.
