Thanks for the log Emile.

It’s clear that BB has an issue with the network. Since even a restart doesn’t fix that, I’m thinking that there might be a conflict on port 3233.
Please run this command in the Terminal:

sudo lsof -i -P | grep 3233

Thanks!
Robert.

Hi Robert
I found this
System Requirements
For Autodesk Smoke 2013 pre-release trial software
Apple® Mac OS® X version 10.6.6, 10.6.7, 10.7.2, or 10.7.3
Oups I’m running 10.7.4

Could this cause the problem
On my Macbookpro also running 10.7.4 and I don’t have any problems with smoke 2013

Hi Emile.

No, 10.7.4 is not likely the cause of those issues. Looks a lot like a networking problem, which surprises me because you have the ideal network setup: manual IP and no wifi, no VPN, no ipv6, etc.
Looks like port conflicts on 3233 aren’t the cause either.

What do you get if you open the Terminal and type this command?
ping -t 3 `hostname`

(the inverted commas around hostname are the ones on the ~ key, not the usual ones)

Thanks!
Robert.

I see. Looks like we’re getting somewhere.

Your DNS server might have out of date IP information about your Mac. Was your IP always configured manually or did you use DHCP before?
Also, is your Mac using a name that was previously used by another computer on your network?

Let’s try this: disconnect your network cable, restart your Mac and check if Smoke services are ok then.

Regards,
Robert.

Yip You got it,
The IP 192.168.50.113 is a DHCP address (Range 192.168.50.109 to somewhere in the 30)
and this computer has run with a DHCP
And indeed the smoke works perfectly without network cable
hope there is a solution fixing this.
I prefer not to start from scratch.
Thanks
Emile

Emile, i think a good solution would be to put your Mac back on DHCP. That way the DNS server will associate your Mac with the correct IP address.
Is that option possible?
If you do, don’t forget to reboot before trying to use Smoke again.

Cheers,
Robert.

works fine
thanks
with the DHCP automatic he gave me a different IP
so I put it on DHCP with manual address same and used the same as the ping
rebooted the mac
Did a ping
started Service monitor (see attach)
and mediahub and smoke work perfect.

I owe you a drink for your perfect service
Have a nice weekend
Emile

here the ping

FinalSlut:~ FinalSlut$ ping -t 3 `hostname`
PING finalslut.mainframe.local (192.168.50.113): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 192.168.50.113: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=0.098 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.50.113: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.127 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.50.113: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.134 ms

--- finalslut.mainframe.local ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 3 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 0.098/0.120/0.134/0.016 ms

Awesome! I’m glad we got it working!

I have reported this issue to our R&D team. They’re working on fixing as many network issues with Smoke’s background services as possible.

Cheers,
Robert.
