Hi,

I have installed Visual Studio 2008, XNA 3.0 (which works), XSI 7.01 and I downloaded the add-on (installed it by draging it on XSI).

Next I updated the configuration file as listed above of Visual Studio.

I still get the error that the content can not be found, and I don’t have the tab to configure the content pipe?? If I want to add the XSI generated content to the Visual Studio project I get the error message that the file type is not supported??

What else do I need to do, or what can be wrong?

Thanks in advance.

jonstelly or djc I just started a new project added and installed all requirements, but I need and example how the App.config file looks.

Right now mine looks like this,

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<configuration>
</configuration>

but how does the structure look when you add the addition?
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<configuration>
<dependentAssembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1"><assemblyIdentity name="Microsoft.Xna.Framework" publicKeyToken="6d5c3888ef60e27d" culture="neutral" ><bindingRedirect oldVersion="2.0.0.0" newVersion="3.0.0.0" >
</dependentAssembly>
</configuration>

Like this?

Cancel That! I read how in the .NET Frameworks doc’s!…
Hello I did what you said there and i get the following error when I try to run my game:

Error loading “model”. Cannot find ContentTypeReader XSIXNARuntime.XSIAnimationDataReader, XSIXNARuntime, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null.

I was able to fix that problem by rebuilding the XSIXNARuntime file. The source can be found in your mod tool directory, in one of the sub folders called XNA_SAMPLES (C:\Softimage\XSI_6_Mod_Tool\Addons\XNAGSE\Data\XNA_SAMPLES\XSIXNARuntime).

Make sure you put the build mode to release, and then use the newly created dll in your references.

I found rebuilding the XSIXNARuntime with all of the other stuff above does fix the problem with running the process to XNA for Windows using C# Express 2008/XNA 3.0 and the XSI 6.01 Mod Tool release… But did anyone else happen to notice that when you try to push your code to XBOX 360 that there are errors there?

(A short side note – the application config file only needs to be added to the XSIXNARuntime project for this stuff to work. The SOFTImage_XNAViewer and the original project that brought me to XSI, GuitarMatey both work without the config…)

I have noticed that the SOFTImage_XNAViewer project (found at C:\Softimage\XSI_6.01_Mod_Tool\Addons\XNAGSE\Data\XNA_SAMPLES) will push results to 360 and I started to review the references in the program.  I noticed that the XSIXNARuntime_XBOX project does not have a Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Content.Pipeline reference (which I believe is proper) but the Windows version does.  In the SOFTImage_XNAViewer solution, both References and Content\References refer to the XSIXNARuntime project.  However, when looking at the references to the 360 version of the project, the upper references refers to the XSIXNARuntime_XBOX version, while the Content\References refers to non-XBOX version or XSIXNARuntime.

It’s a bit messed up, but to make the XBox version XSIXNARuntime work you need to reference the re-compiled XBox version of the library in the outer References folder, but reference the re-compiled Windows version in the content folder.  Does any one have any suggestions on how to fix the referencing problems or is this the best solution?

Any update on when the XNA add-on for Autodesk Softimage 7.5 will be made available? The 7.5 Modtool is out and includes XNA 3.0 support. Is it possible to manually rip the XNA 3.0 support from Modtool and copy the relevant files to a 7.5 install?

While I couldn’t find a download specifically for Softimage 7.5, I was able to install the Mod Tool 7.5 and copy the folder “C:\Softimage\Softimage_Mod_Tool_7.5\Addons\XNAGSE” to “C:\Softimage\Softimage_7.5\Addons\XNAGSE” and use it successfully. It seems that Softimage loads quite a bit slower now but I could be imagining that and it hasn’t bothered me enough to confirm it.

Looks like Autodesk has posted the XNA 3.0 plugin for Autodesk Softimage 7.5 - the same one included with ModTool 7.5. Details can be found here.
