Several people have reported problems with smoothing when exporting to FBX.  We’re seeing the same problem when exporting to FBX with ModTool 7.5 and Crosswalk 3.3.

This can be reproduced on any object and is not limited to XNA - importing into other modeling applications / engines shows the same results.

This is because the normals saved to the FBX file from XSI are smoothed regardless of how they’re setup in XSI itself.  Also the discontinuity option has no effect on the exported normals.

The same models exported using the .X and .XSI formats contain the correct normals, however .X does not export correct texture / uv information, and the .XSI format is unusable until ModTool is updated for XNA 3.1.

Where do we officially report this bug?

Just downloaded Crosswalk 4.0 and FBX exporting is still crippled (though it works fine in XSI) - clearly the problem is in ModTool itself.

Will we see a ModTool based on XSI 2010?  Or at least a working update?
