Ok so im new in all this xsi thing watched some tutorials but i still dont know how to animate my character.
What i need is to make loads of animations(the animations are for player controled charachter) like walk run crouch shoot use my custom made things like a ball , stick or weapon.
what i have right now is a rigged css charachter (ct sas model)
i can pretty much controll it how i like but i need to know how can i create new animation than add another diffrent animation so it would have like
chouch
walk
use ball
throw ball
and some other like in a list or sth like that so i could make these easily than compile it and probably use it in my HL2 EP1 single player (or multiplayer) MOD.
well i hope someone will answer or link some pages where i could learn that.

I’m not exactly sure what you mean.  You cannot “see” the ‘player’ character, even with cameras/monitors, in Source.  You want to create a sidekick character, like Alyx?  That’s beyond my current knowledge…

But, I got another tutorial that you’d probably be interested in seeing.  Don’t have a direct link, but try searching on YouTube for XSI Half Life 2 - There was a seminar from GDC where someone from Softimage replaced the Combine Policemen with a custom Skeleton character (talked about using Collada to assemble stuff from Maya,Max,etc).

It involved naming your model the same as the ingame model you wanted to replace, and placing it in the appropriate subdirectory, ie Ep1/Models/whatever/whatever.

Well I meant that the model I will create will be the player controled charachter I will give you an example mod: http://www.moddb.com/mods/dreamball
The ball in that mod is the thing im creating in my mod( except mine is not a ball ^o^ )
hope you understood now.
I need to know how can I do that or Im doomed :hang:

I’m generally not a doom and gloom kind of guy, but.....

To make something like that, you definately need to modify source code.  Happen to know MS Visual Studio?  Too complex for me… I still haven’t animated any of my props yet… Just learned why all my phys boxes were all messed up… :P

You’ll probably have to pick something such as HL2 deathmatch to mod (since then you’ll have a player model), and do a few changes to the code in order to get a third person camera (see http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Third_Person_Camera for details).

If you have some money to spend, Noesis Interactive has a good library of DVDs that do a good job detailing the process of getting a character up and running.

I’ve already looked there and it didnt mentioned about it but I think it has to be somewhere in valves developer zone. (I made my firs modification for it earlier (the one in the link))

Nope I’m not the guy who would this much of money for that .
as I think there are lots of free sources that have everything needed.

(First forum in which I see people are active ^o^ )

thanks for the links :D
