Try copying just the brushes (world geometry). Perhaps it has a problem with the entities and such. I’ve successfuly been able to load my tf2 map into XSI, but I failed when trying to export it back to Hammer and gave up trying to do that…

I’m having the same problem, and trying it with a simple cube crashes it too.
Hope someone fixes this.

ValveSource/VMF Tools/VMF Import works for me. So far, at least… I will post pics when I’m finished.
When I tried to import a full Valve map, XSI crashed. BTW, I’m running xsi 7.01 ESS 32bit, Vista 64. It could be that maybe it was just too many objects, since every brush is imported as it’s own polymesh. So far, I’ve just tried importing simple tests, and I have gotten displacements to import.
Maybe turn off import materials; at least that’s what I’ve done for my tests…

Here’s a wire of pl_goldrush! Almost 12,000 objects! And that’s after I’ve removed all models and entites (all I could find, probably missed some). I’ll try to post some more pics as I move along in my project.
