Hey guys, for some reason I can’t seem to get the Source stuff to work, when I try it says something like: /Steam/steamapps/****/sourcesdk_content/hl2/modelsrc/buggy/scenes/buggy_referance.scn could not be found.

This one is for the buggy, and it pops up something like that with the other stuff too.

PS. This is with XSI 6.01 Mod Tool, also I blocked off my steam name, that’s why there is **** there.

EDIT: If this thread is in the wrong place plz move it to the correct place, as I am kinda new here.

What were you trying to import? Which file? How were you opening it?

I could File/Open buggy_reference.scn with xsi7.01. I couldn’t open buggy.qc - that immediately crashed XSI several times I tried to import it (via ValveSourceTools).

EDIT:  Welcome to Softimage Community!

Also, yeah, when I tried to open the buggy_reference thingy it couldn’t find it.

And thx.

But yeah, I couldn’t open the buggy thing, airboat thing, or anything, it couldn’t find it. :(

I believe there is a link on the mod tool that asks you to point to your source sdk folder or half-life 2 folder.  After that you can open the models it lists in the mod
tool netviewer (or whatever).

Yeah, but when I choose the sourcesdk_content or w/e then try and open it, it says that it could not be found

Do you own a Valve game?  Installed the SDK?

Yes, I own: HL2, HL2 Ep1, HL2 Ep2, CS:S, and I have installed source SDK and even tried making a few maps.

I’m not sure how modtool works, but I guess the only other recommendation I have is to just open it with File/Open.  If you’re missing textures, hit 8 (explorer), o (Oh, not zero), then twirl down clips and relink the textures.

(Can modtool open .scn files?)

I am not sure either is the thing, what file would I open?

Yeah, I just got it not to long ago, haven’t been on it much becasue I got it mainly for editing the Half-life 2 files.

File/Open.  Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\(USERNAME)\sourcesdk_content\hl2\modelsrc\Buggy\Scenes (note: I’m on 64bit, that’s why it’s x86 on mine)

Select Buggy_Reference.scn

Did that work?

Alternatively, take a look at some of the other threads on here (Left4Dead one is good) that explain how to extract and decompile game assets.  Then, you can import them via ValveSourceTools/Import SMD, change it to .qc files, and select one of the decompiled model’s .qc files.  You need to relink the textures afterwards, as I explained above.
