I’m trying to use the Valve Source Add-on with XSI 7.0 64-bit and I’m having some problems.

The add-on only installs half of the “ValveSource” menu and The Import and Export SMD options aren’t there. This is kind of important since that’s how you transfer 3D content from XSI to the Source engine.

When I install the add-on I get an error at the bottom that says:

error.jpg

If I navigate to this folder the WeightImport.dll is there (but is apparently being ignored).

Then if I select “ValveSource” on the menu I only get some of the options (and the most important ones aren’t there)

valvesource.jpg

and I also get this error message at the bottom of the screen:

error2.jpg

The ValveSourceTools JScript File appears to be in that location.

Does anyone know what is going on here or possibly have a solution? I have personally witnessed the add-on work with XSI 7.0 so I am really confused as to why it isn’t working for me. I’m not really that great at solving these types of problems so I’m really hoping somebody out there can help me out.

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Same here. If you open the log you’ll see the full list.

Is this plugin only supposed to be used with ModTools, perhaps?

Provided in image form because Area purges all < closed > text from its post.
Great idea orz

Well, sorry to hear you’re experiencing the same problem (but glad to know I’m not alone, ha ha)

I know for a fact that the plugin works with XSI as well as the Mod Tools. The first Mod Tool even came with the plugin already installed so there was no need to download and put it in. I’ve used the ValveSource plugin with XSI 6, XSI 6.5, and XSI 7 on my work computers but still have not been able to get it working on my home computer.

I posted this same question in one of the other sections of this forum and got some interesting info. You can view that thread here:

curious as to which version of the Valve Addon your using. is it the version provided on the mod tools website (ValveSource.6.02.xsiaddon) or the version from the Source SDK download (ValveSource.0105.01.xsiaddon).

Your problem is valve addon doesn’t work entirely in xsi 64bit.  Try running 32bit version of xsi 7.

Where do I download the smd exporter for XSI Foundation (not mod tool)???

I’ve looked everywheere. Is the valve plug-in only compatible with the XSI MOD TOOLS?

Thanks in advance!

The plugin is not limited to just ModTool.
