Hi everybody
I have 2 question. I hope you can answer me:

1- I worked with 3dsmax before I start to work with xsi. in 3dsmax we have a constrain called “Link Constrain”. That’s use for link an object to another objects in different frame. for example a cube link in frame 0-10 to sphere01, from 11-20 to sphere02 and.... In edition Rotation, Position and Scale follow of parents together. For example frame 0-10 cube follow all pos/rot/scale from speher01, from 11-20 from sphere02.  where we can find Link Constrain in xsi?! Pose constrain and rotation constrain not enough for my peruses. Because when I use Pose Constrain, it changed the position of object. On the other hand change the parent in different frame is not possible. Sure I know I can use many pose constrain. but I still have a problem with changed position.

2- How you see playback performance of xsi? I mean it’s satisfy or not? for example I have 7 character with full rig, skin and about 50 shape key. will I have a problem with playback performance? Fortunately I have a power system so I do not have any problem with power. but in 3dsmax I have very very problem in playback performance. Do you think I might problem with xsi or not?
I waiting for your answer.
Thank you so much to everybody.

Use a pose constraint in softimage.

What positional problems are you having with it? Are you using constraint compensation while applying the pose constraint?

You can always use nulls as position holders if you need, and simply constrain to them.

It’s funny that I stumbled on this question because I actually designed the link constraint in 3dsmax while working at autodesk :)

2. If you want to see FPS, its under the visibility options for each viewport, in the stats tab.

It’s hard to say how your character will perform because there are many variables that impact performance. Proxy objects for characters are obviously the best way to deal with real time performance.

Thank you A.Baroody
My problem with changing position when I use pose constrain it’s solved. but my question is: is xsi have something like Link Constrain?! I think no! but Link Constain in 3dsmax is realy good. this is not good!
but about FPS, I think xsi is extremely better than 3dsmax. I checked it before. I want to know is have any special technique for give better FPS?
I know many parameters effective. but I looking for compare between 3dsmax and xsi.
Again thanks to you to answering me.

Yes, your character’s mesh may be too heavy.
In Softimage (XSI) you use ‘reference models’ to switch between your heavy character and light (proxy) with just a click.
Also, the ‘Pose’ constraint system can be used for “link Constrain”.
Here is a plugin that makes it even easier to use:
