I placed the landmark of mouth corner well according to the help, and I had tried to use the model of Human Female 90291 and Rock Falcon to have comparison. I compared two of them in the solved stage without having additional sculpting or cluster processes. I found that Face Robot dealt not very well with mouth corner, excepting the model of Rock Falcon, that resulted a very sharp difference of weighting on upper and lower lip. And it not allowed to change the weight of mouth part according to help that assumed the only way to tweak the mouth/lip is thru sculting or tune mouth fuction(not really helpful on this issue). Is there any reference or guide regading the mouth corner problem except those guides from help? Or something really explain how Face Robot treat the mouth corner. Thanks. 2009-11-12T03:14:11+01:00 how can i safely remove volume preservers from rig? http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage/animation/how-can-i-safely-remove-volume-preservers-from-rig/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage/animation/how-can-i-safely-remove-volume-preservers-from-rig/page-last/#When:22:03:57Z Hello, I have a character i rigged using the biped guide, at which time i chose to include volume preservers for various areas like thighs and elbows, etc. These are no longer wanted and in fact they interfere with how i am using the character now, and i would prefer to use deform keys linked with bone rotations. Regenerating the rig is not an option, since a lot of work has been done since then on enveloping etc. Can I safely just delete these volume preservers from the rig without running into problems later? What is using these volume preservers, and how can I find the link between them. I'd rather not leave expressions which go nowhere. I'd rather get rid of whatever function is using these volume preservers. I get an itchy feeling that i will run into problems if i don't.... thanks for any advice, NJ PS running XSI 7.01 2009-11-04T22:03:57+01:00 need help making jello effect http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage/animation/need-help-making-jello-effect/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage/animation/need-help-making-jello-effect/page-last/#When:20:53:41Z i am needing some help with making a solid mesh text have a jello effect and need to know how to make it fall on a grid and react like jello 2009-11-03T20:53:41+01:00 Is there a problem with the biped guide in 2010? http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage/animation/is-there-a-problem-with-the-biped-guide-in-2010/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage/animation/is-there-a-problem-with-the-biped-guide-in-2010/page-last/#When:19:55:40Z I am having trouble with the biped guide in Softimage 2010. Whenever I choose to make a biped rig from the biped guide, the arms rotate and the IK does not work correctly. At first I thought I had moved something incorrectly, but I have gone back to do it again and the only thing I have done is to translate the cube-shaped control objects. I am presently downloading Service Pack 1 for Softimage 2010 but I do not see anything related to rigging in the list of fixes. Is there something else I could be doing wrong or is there a problem with the biped rig? EDIT ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have installed SP1 and it does not help. 2009-11-03T19:55:40+01:00 How can I correct bone rotation/roll after being enveloped to mesh? http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage/animation/how-can-i-correct-bone-rotationroll-after-being-enveloped-to-mesh/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage/animation/how-can-i-correct-bone-rotationroll-after-being-enveloped-to-mesh/page-last/#When:17:03:35Z I have a rig made from a biped that has been enveloped to a mesh with some of the weighting completed. When I was setting up the rig, I somehow rotated the Bicep and Forearm bones incorrectly. Apparently I did catch and rotate the hand bones properly. Because of the incorrect rotation, the IK of the arms does not work properly. Also, the up-vector controls for the arms do not work at all. I can see the Up Vector values under the Resolution Plane tab change when I translate the up-vector controls, but the bones themselves do not move. I know I can remove the enveloping and start over, but I would like to know if there is an easier way to accomplish this. 2009-11-03T17:03:35+01:00 client want´s to understand complex face rigging!? http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage/animation/client-wants-to-understand-complex-face-rigging/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage/animation/client-wants-to-understand-complex-face-rigging/page-last/#When:16:38:59Z I have something you can almost call a problem. I´m giving privat-lessions in 3d-graphics, and today I had an interesting client. He didn´t know anything about 3d, well, he was the kinda guy who got all the programs, but he never really tried them you know. But the fun thing about this guy, was that he has decided to learn one of the most complex parts of 3d, without knowing the basics. He want´s to be able to record his face, talking or whatever, and then transfer the expressions to a 3d-face. He is so determined to understand this, even if it is impossible for him. The reason why he wants to learn just this bit, is because he saw some clip from a face robot-tutorial and fell in love. So I felt after our first meeting today, that I hadn´t explained good enough how this works, so he asked me to do some research of how this could be done. So if I´m right, and this is where I want you to back me up, or explain me wrong, this is how it works: 1- You must have a some kind of "face-suit" that can record tracking data into your computor, from a real face(wrong or right??) 2. you must have a rigged face with a rig that I can apply this data on to(how would this be done?) is this how it is done? Or how does it work? Would a program like face robot do any difference(I can´t find any information about that program, except from some crappy videos in youtube, does it even exist anymore??) hope it makes sense! 2009-11-03T16:38:59+01:00 Face Robot simulation? http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage/animation/face-robot-simulation/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage/animation/face-robot-simulation/page-last/#When:16:27:16Z For non human characters, how can we setup a similar Face Robot setup? It's just so much easier to do Shape Manager settings with the squares rather than move dots around. Especially with a high poly model.
