I want to subdivide using polymesh>subdivision to a face object that has shapes and has already been rigged, I use the transfer button on the subdivision panel to transfer all the shapes and enveleop weights.  When I check out the shapes after the transfer they are all completely out of whack, just a mess of points.  The enveloping is fine though.  I have tried this several ways with no luck any advice would be appreciated.

I hope I understand you correctly, but wouldn’t it be possible to duplicate your head, strip it from shapes and envelop, subdivide it, and use GATOR to get the shapes and envelop back on the subdivided head?
