I am experimenting with the Physical sky shader. In the SI user guide it describes that a background image can be used along with the shader. Unfortunately, being new I am having a hard time figuring it out. I would like to use a landscape image mapped onto the environment (like when using image based lighting and allowing the image to be visible in bg, as well as reflections) but using the sky shader for lighting. Is this possible? I tried different ways of connecting the nodes but I either get the blue sky gradient or black. I have installed it on my lap top which is running Windows 7 and has an i7 quad core processor, 4 gigs of ram and a Nvidia Graphics card with 1gig on board memory. But when I install Softimage, it says the software has installed successfully. So I run it and it almost opens up, I see the bare bones of the interface and it then just hangs. I have tried installing the service pack the hotfix. Reinstalling it with the anti virus and firewall switched off but nothing seems to help. This works great with any application which uses DirectX11 however if the program does not support/use DX11 and has to emulate an older version such as DX9 then there are visual artifacts and rendering issues making this almost unusable. This issue is present in many applications and games including Autodesk 3D Studio Max which I demonstrate in this video. I am trying to figure out if there is a way to turn auto-keyframe on so that when I tweak the character it receives new keys, but if I tweak something else—like a light intensity or position of the camera—that does not get keyframed. I think auto-keyframe is useful, but I constantly keep forgetting that I have it on and only realize it later when I find keyframes on things I did not mean to key. Is it possible to set auto-keyframe to only work on the selected character set?
