I remember looking at this chart for Softimage 2011:
http://download.autodesk.com/us/...qualifiedgraphics_win.pdf

And it says that “all” consumer ATI GPUs had the following issues:
- Softimage Ultimapper is broken with ATI
- CGFX shaders are red and unusable with Radeon Card

The AMD Radeon 7970 is currently the best consumer GPU around, and the workstation FireGL GPUs are too expensive for my tastes. Does Softimage 2012 have problems with the HD 7970?

I’ve recently replaecd nvidia gtx580, which had pooort performance in Softimage with new radeon HD7970 and I’m more than happy.

performance wise it is like 10 classes above crappy gtx580.
And yesterday my 3rd monitor arrived and now just waiting for some mini display port to dvi active adapters to hook it up and enjoy it even more.
If you wanna see more details about performance check it out here:

In any case I’m more than happy and I don’t think taht I will look back at nvidia any time soon, with their policy of crippling gamer cards.
Also it looks like that hd7970 leaves even new gtx680 in dust when talking about opengl.
