Helo everyone.
I’m in love with everything that softimage offers, however mental ray is a big pain for me.
Since I’m used to vray in max, I thought there could be a way to transfer my scenes from softimage directly to vray, including the new ice-syflex features.

I’ve tried connecting my softimage to max (using the “Send to 3DS Max” function) without success. I’ve also tried exporting my scene as an FBX files (animations included) however none of the ice-made syflex animations were exported this time.

Here, needing some help from thecommunity :)

I’m afraid you cant port over the simulation, mostly i think because it happens on geometry level and it doesnt involve a pointcloud. Maybe is possible but i dont know how to.

If you want to use Vray you might want to contact Vlado () at chaosgroup for a vray beta for softimage, since it is really well integrated.

cheers

I should imagine you’ll need to cache out your sim before you can export it to max.

you cant cache something if its not pointcloud, the cache needs to be done on a pointcloud, as far as i know

no you can cache points on geometry as well, any deformation

anyway you’ll need to plot the simulation and export to shape animation

Can you give me more details on how to “plot the simulation and export” ?
The linked topic does not give much information, and I can say I dont use Softimage for my usual stuff -
