I’ve just started using XSI 2010 and been at it around a month, managed to make some basics such as models, materials, lighting etc..

I’m not even sure I’m posting in the correct section as I’m unsure of the exact terms describing what I want to do..

My goal is to take some Live video and in front of the video place a 3d object tht will track in relation to the camera movement ane appear to be in the original video.

I tried reading in some video formats into XSI but the AVI and MPEG2 formats did not seem to work even when applying to an object as a texture projection on the material.

Can someone point me in the correct direction as I could not figure it out from the XSI help as I’m not sure of correct terms to use to get the help

Cheers.

you could make a image sequence to import into SI. i often use jpg, as this is enough for previewing purpose. then you should 3D track the footage and import the camera into SI.

Xsi doesnt import video files afaik, you need to use image sequence. Convert your video to image sequence, use any video editing software, then in xsi go into your viewport -> right up corner where you change wireframe shading mode etc open that menù and scroll down to Rotoscope, a PPG opens up, select New -> New from file, and select your image sequences wich XSI already group it into something named like this “animation.[1..100].jpg” dont enter into that, just select that and click ok, and it’ll load your animation in viewport.

It seems to clip everything before a greater than symbol, unless you use the HTML entity, i.e., ampersand-g-t-semicolon.

But previewing or editing your post afterward resets the entities to the actual character, so you have to remember to redo the entities before you submit.

Simple, isn’t it?
