I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program from my education suite I purchased 2 years ago, and it will not save anything I do on the program. It will not save preferences, curves, or any object created. It freezes after I try to save as... or use a shader in older files. What do I need to do to get my program back to normal? I can still model and render, but no preference or new objects can be saved. You can lock values from keying panel and it locks those transforms from entering values numerically , but you still can still move camera around interacively. The idea is that I've done some compositions and frameing with camera and do not want somebody in the chain of production beeing able to change it later (accidentally for example). Any suggestions, hints? I've stumbled across a strange bug in the transform coord. manager: What I was trying to achieve was to align an object to a face on another object. There's a dedicated function for this in 3ds max, which I missed in SI until I read ghonma's hint: [url]http://www.xsibase.com/forum/index.php?board=10;action=display;threadid=36108[/url] Trick is: Pick the polygon reference, and set the rotation of the object you want to align to 0,0,0 in REF mode, then snap-translate it into place. Problem is, when using the Rotate Tool with REF active, the rotation input fields cannot be edited correctly. If you enter a value, the fields do not show what you just entered but some seemingly random other value. But when using the Translate Tool, the rotation input fields work as expected, and you can 0,0,0 correctly. This does not make any sense, does it? Looks like a bug to me. We built a cube of Lagoa "Jello", and bounced it off an uneven surface - it looks great, but I want to render it with one of my nice Max renderers (FinalRender). I Polygonized the cloud of points, and it looks fine...I have attempted to both export and use the crosstalk, and it seems to work except no matter what I do with the various checkboxes I only get a static object in Max - no animation. This might be a very silly question, I have just stared learning Softimage as a first 3D modelling application. The issue is that for some reason the it doesn't show the selection rectangle when Rectangle selection is on (F7) The mouse still does the command as if there was a rectangle selection area. It does the same for the other selection commands too. The feature works as it should, but doesn't show a selection area. I wonder if this is a feature for the 2012 version of this software, (if it is then I will ignore it, because it still selects, just I can't see the area it's selecting) or might it be some box in preferences that wasn't ticked. I checked if the dotxsi.dll file was missing but I found it in the factory bin directory. I checked the plugin manager and I have three file errors: DirectXExport.dll, DirectXImport.dll and dotXSIConverter.32.dll (screen attached). The three files are in the factory plugin directory but failed to load. 1. What to do to correct the three errors? 2. What to do to load the .xsi file properly without errors? Support help is appreciated, as always. I am on subscription, running Softimage 2012 sp1 on XP SP3.
