| Windows7 Pinning to Taskbar

Continue from this thread as it was closed so quick:

Whoa DUDE, I recently got around to trying this technique after what Rork suggested.
You can’t rename an EXE file to a BAT in once it’s pinned in the TaskBar. I get an error that :specified name in the target box is not valid:. Also in the thread there was a suggestion to go into the <drive letter>:\users\etc\etc that can be done, yes, but you can also right click on the icon once in the task bar and go to the properties which is the same thing as going though all those steps. Regardless Windows7 won’t allow it to be renamed.
Unless there was a step skipped or some magic was done for those who got it working. I’d be interested in knowing if they are interesting in sharing.

Did you try the cmd /c approach?

CMD / C approach ? I don’t want to enter CMD /C just randomly where I think I should do it. I have to ask what you mean.

You made the Quick Launch bar ? I still haven’t gotten around to trying these two suggestions. I will hoping they work :)

I had a little problem the other day with Softimage 2010, but running runonce.bat solved the problem.
The ”No Interactive License” error is occurring even for the batch file on the desktop, after the problem occurred. When previously the error was only occurring when I tried to run the softimage batch file from the taskbar. The executable file for Softimage 2010 also causes the same outcome as when running the batch file.

Is the license server running? In LMTOOLS, click Perform Status Enquiry.
If the license server is running, then check the SoftimageLicense.log file. It is in your
% TEMP % folder. What errors, if any, are in the .log file?
|
|
|

The server is running. I tried looking for the specific file you mentioned SoftimageLicense.log in my temp folder and I was unable to find. By that I mean it does exist but you wouldn’t happen to know where specifically I should look ? :) Thanx.

SoftimageLicense.log should be in the location specified by the TEMP environment variable. In the address bar of a folder view, type TEMP with percent signs % before and after it, and press ENTER.
If you cannot find the log file, then try FLEXLM_DIAGNOSTICS:

PS - I don’t know how to escape the % sign in forum posts, see what happens to the percent signs? &#xTE;MP%

Found it :) Thanks to your help.
In the SoftimageLicence.LOG file there are two vendor errors that get repeated numerous times in the log file. Those two errors messages are the following:
VendorError=-1 [Can’t find license file]
AdlmIntError=20 [License check out failed]
Hopefully this can get fixed.

VendorError=-1 [Can’t find license file]
This is the problem. Softimage cannot find or connect to the license server.
Check your setenv.bat:
- Start the User Tool (click Start - All Programs - Autodesk - Autodesk Softimage 2010 - UserTools).
- In the list of Configuration Files, click Setenv.bat (Environment Script).
- Find this line:
set _ADSK_LicServers=
- What is the value of _ADSK_LicServers?
If your computer name is “Falconcrest”, then it should be:
set _ADSK_LicServers=@Falconcrest
If you are on Vista or Windows 7, use your IP address instead of the computer name.
After that, the next thing to check is whether port 2080 is being blocked by your firewall..
Try with telnet:
For example:
telnet Falconcrest 2080
If telnet can connect, you’ll get a blank screen. Press Ctrl+] to quit the telnet session.

There was no name there.

Instead I did what you said to do, and put in @<my ip address>

Where do I find telnet ? I tried searching but the search came up empty.

In my post, the word “telnet” was a clickable link to the instructions on how to install telnet on Vista or Windows 7.
