Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone else gets weird zdepth issues in the viewport. It often happens with my models that if I zoom out at all, the back faces start showing through and it gets a bit messy and hard to tell what’s going on. Anyone got any good ways around this?
Thanks
Pete

This used to happen to me alot when I first started using XSI, I was using the “Pan and Zoom tool"(Z key) when this happened, then I discovered the “Navigation tool"(S key) to:
Track (left click and drag)
Dolly (middle click and drag)
Orbit (right click and drag)
then I experienced no more problems.
What i’m saying is that the symptoms that you described were the same ones that I was experiencing because of the way I was trying to navigate around my scene.
Edit*
It could very well be your graphics card if it happens all the time, but I ruled out clipping planes in this case because i’ve never experienced those symptoms you described when the clipping planes were out of adjustment, the only symptoms I have encountered when the clipping planes needed adjustment was that objects or parts of objects in my scene simply vanished from view.

About the navigation, I’m also switched times ago from “z” (old Soft|3D habit) to “s”.
Use also “p” for dolly only (normal | slow | fast)
The weird, flickering poly display can be fixed sometimes by changing the cameras
clipping plane values.

i agree , adjusting the cameras far and near clipping plane should do the trick
