HI all - I was trying to work through the water ripples ICE tutorial on the softimage wiki but I think it's based on an earlier version (I have 2012) - Does anyone know of a similar tutorial for 2012? I'm trying to create rain droplets, water ripples (like skimming stones) and single drops running down an object or windowpane.

How to make some Particles fly along a curve and After Move to a Object. i use flow along a curve, on port 2, and move toward a goal on port 3, simulate on port 4 i expected to simulate according the the order of ports, first calculate the Curve, and finishing the curve length or time, simulate move toward the object. is there a kind of switch? to change or do i have to animate on time something? thanks.

Fire using ICE

I have been trying to render out a good flame look for fire. Does anyone have any work flow? Or can tell me what I need. Thanks The image shows a real flame in the red outlined inset image. The rest is my attempt to use emFluid4 and emRPC to render the flame. I have had no luck. Steve

ICECACHE as ASCII

Any idea why writing ICECACHE as ASCII cache sequence is not working? I’m setting the env var as mentioned in the wiki: http://softimage.wiki.softimage.com/index.php/Icecache_File_Format but for some reason it is outputting a sequence of empty files. I’m using SI12 and I’m trying to investigate the ICECACHE file for integrating it in game pipeline.

I am a ice beginner and this is killing me. I am sure it is something simple and I can't find the answer. Please help!

How do you get particles to take on the color of the texture map and stick to it when being emitted from a different geometry object. Is there a tutorial or demo scene anyone can point me to. I haven't been able to find any. I think my problem comes in when setting the color particles on emission and getting the stick to location or something along those lines. Basically I can make it all happen, except for the last part getting the particles to take on the color of the texture map applied to a grid that they are sticking to. Thanks for any help you can offer. Please let me know if you would like any specific information. Sincere thanks, John

Hi everyone I tryed to use the swimmer compounds from oliver can download at this link>>> http://www.si-community.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=17 when i set up my scene with the aaocean or just a grid with a turbulize mesh,,,nothing happend... I use softimage 2012 , i will share my scene on this thread..my first issue is inside the swimmer the lastest nodes, the two set data got a red color...dont know why, my second issue is , i dont unerstand when he said >> <> i just did it in the script editor XSI_UNSUPPORTED_ICE_KINEMATICS=1 and run it..is it good? maybe i didn t connect everything like it should be connect Thanks for the help Alexander

What is the proper node structure to remove the integer from the name of an object so as to be used as a sequencer. string is driven by self.name = Chunk0 I want a series of string nodes that will isolate the integer as below? Chunk0 -> to -> 0

ICE particle collision Rendering problem

Hi We are doing a chase scene with two cars and use Ice particles to simulate the dust trails. However, it seems that when the particles from the two different ICE trees collide, the colors are somehow inverted when rendered. I attach a picture to show the problem. I will really appreciate it if someone can tell me how to rectify this problem.

render only phase1 particles

Hi, I have a scene with fluid pouring down in a glass. As the fluid gets into the glass bubbles are spawning. The fluid is set up as phase0 and the bubbles as phase1. Though I need the phase0 particles to remain due to interaction with the phase1 particles, I only want to render the phase1 (bubbles) particles. Is this possible? br O
