swimmer issue

Hi everyone

I tryed to use the swimmer compounds from oliver can download at this link>>>

when i set up my scene with the aaocean or just a grid with a turbulize mesh,,,nothing happend…

I use softimage 2012 , i will share my scene on this thread..my first issue is inside the swimmer the lastest nodes, the two set data got a red color...dont know why, my second issue is ,

i dont unerstand when he said >> <<Of course you have to switch unsupported kinematics on..!>>

i just did it in the script editor XSI_UNSUPPORTED_ICE_KINEMATICS=1 and run it..is it good?

maybe i didn t connect everything like it should be connect

If you’re using Softimage 2012 there is no need for the “XSI_UNSUPPORTED_ICE_KINEMATICS” environment variable - but if you ever need to set an environment variable: that’s not the way to set them, you do this by adding a line to the file setenv.bat (see here).
I haven’t tried the swimmer compound recently, but it might be outdated…
Please show some screenshot of your ICE Tree so we can see better what you mean…

Just had a quick look and it does seem to be outdated. The compound sets data on the local transforms, which was possible with the “XSI_UNSUPPORTED_ICE_KINEMATICS”, but isn’t possible anymore with the supported ICE_Kinematics of Softimage 2011 & 2012…

ok thanks for this answer...then no way...i must find another to do this effect, some boxes float on a ocean…

I’ve just activated your account at the si-community. I would try again there, as the si-community is owned by owei (olivier). It must be possible to adapt the original compound relatively easily to the new versions, but I haven’t got the time ATM (Christmas and all that) to do it for you right now…
