whenever I create new geometry and don’t touch the sub divisions it’s ok but as soon as I try to increase the subdivions the geomtry goes out of shape. How may I rectify this?

thanks in advance

I suppose it would depend on what you mean by going out of shape, since it could just be doing exactly what subdivision does (you can subdivide a cube into a sphere for example). If this is the case, adding more edges alone the boundaries is a good way to maintain the original shape (beveling usually works good).

I suppose it also depends on if you mean subdividing the surface, or subdividing the edges.

ok, may be I didn’t describe the problem correctly, instead of subdiving and retaining the initial shape its like the likes the vertices just explode and dissappear into infinity.
let me get a screen shot

if i create a new project them create a new primitive, then its ok, but even after I have created the primitive and openthe property window, resizing and divisions do not work

manythanks for getting back to me, may be i should do a reinstall?
