Why is it when I duplicate my model single and I go back to the original model and change colors in a cluster it changes the color on the duplicate as well? In the Sofimage help it says you can modify both the model and the duplicate by themselve without affecting the other. Did I read it wrong?

Duplicate doesn’t duplicate the applied materials.
In the Material Manager, check out the Who Uses? for the cluster material.
You’ll see clusters from both models in that list.
