I’ve been using Softimage for a while now, and I like it more than any other 3D modeling software, at least for most operations. I would like to know though is how to make crossections of a polymesh small enough for a CNC machine… I just need to somehow get the coordinates of points that lie on the crossection. I’ve tryed using a grid and boolean opp, but the points on the outside edges are all numbered randomly so I can’t really use a script to pull the correct coords from the correct points… Any plugins already made for this? Or could you please suggest how to get the right point locations?

Thank you.

CNC machines require STL or converted geometry.
You can get the STL standalone application or if your CNC software has a tool for it then use that. Once you get the STL then you need to convert it to a tool path for the CNC.

Study the geometry that the CNC machine works with. There are some rules to follow.
I do not have the application on hand but others use it for creating the proper files to process with CNC/3d printers.

A former roomate used Mastercam. It will create a tool path for Sherline CNC machines.
I am not aware of any other as I do not do machine parts.
